3 Go-To Quick Dips

Do you ever get invited to a party or gathering and think “Oh darn, I don’t have anything to bring or share?” Well fear no more, these 3 cold dips are quick to whip up on the fly for any party or even just a snack.

I created these dips when my friends and I were all having a “family dinner” night every weekend. We all wanted to watch what we were eating (health wise) but also enjoy it. I always have mayo and Greek yogurt in my fridge as well as an endless supply of herbs, so I started to experiment with different flavor dips. All of these dips have the same base but I switch up the seasonings for different flavors. You can serve them with chips or with an assortment of vegetable.

Using Greek yogurt make the dips a great deal healthier than most dips with sour cream or mayo. However, I find that eliminating mayo altogether leaves the dips a bit too tangy so I just add a tablespoon or so to take the edge off. The Greek yogurt also adds more protein and calcium and then eat it with veggies and you have your self a really healthy snack!

To make any of these dips in a warm version replace the Greek yogurt for one 8 oz. package of cream cheese and add half to one cup of shredded cheese. This will take away the added protein from the Greek yogurt but is a great alternative in the winter for a hot dip.

Fiesta Dip

  • 7 oz. container of Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Fage)
  • 1 Tbs. of Mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbs. of your favorite taco seasoning or Tastefully Simple Fiesta Party Seasoning
  • 1/2 Tbs. of Onion Onion from Tastefully Simple
  • Pinch of Cayenne (optional)

Also a great topper for fajitas and quesadillas.

Onion and Herb Dip

  • 7oz container of Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Fage)
  • 2 Tbs. of Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbs. of Onion Onion from Tastefully Simple
  • 1 Tbs. of Persian Bonnes Herbs from Penzey’s (combo of dill, chives, French basil, French tarragon, chervil and white pepper) or Spinach and Herb Seasonings from Tastefully Simple
  • 1/4 tsp. of Garlic Garlic from Tastefully Simple or dried minced garlic
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

Taste is similar to a ranch dip, great as a base for chicken salad (scaled down portion).

Southwest Dip

  • 7oz container of Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Fage)
  • 2 Tbs. of Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 Tbs. Smoked Paprika
  • 1 Tbs. Onion Onion from Tastefully Simple
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • Pinch of Cayenne
  • 2 Tbs. Green or Red Bell Pepper, minced (about 1/4 of a bell pepper)
  • 2 Tbs. sliced scallions (green part) (optional)

Add 1/2 cup of black beens to make it more filling.

Instructions: (same for all dips)

  1. Mix all ingredients and refrigerate for at least an hour. They last up to two weeks in the refrigerator.

See, easy peasy! I hope this inspires you to get creative with some of the seasoning and herbs you have laying around for a quick and healthy dip.
