Maybe you thought biscuits were supposed to be difficult. Just thinking about the texture and the taste, it seems like there would be so many ingredients and steps to make them perfect. These are guaranteed to be the easiest and most delicious homemade biscuits you’ll ever make. All you need is three ingredients!
2 cups of self rising flour
7-9 tbsp. of cold butter
3/4 cup of buttermilk
Before you get started preheat your oven to 450°F.
Cut 7tbsp of the butter into small cubes or pads to easily cut the butter into the flour. Reserve 2 tbsp to brush on the biscuits after baking.
Here is where the fun begins! To cut the butter into the flour you can use a fork or two butter knives if you don’t own a pastry cutter/blender. With your 2 cups of flour in a bowl cut the butter into the flour until it resembles small peas.
Use your hand to gently mix the buttermilk into your flour. Be sure not to overmix or the biscuits will be dry and tough.
Once the buttermilk is mixed in well, you should be able to form the dough, so it can be picked up easily. Be sure to lightly flour your surface, hands, rolling pin, and biscuit cutter to prevent sticking. Use a rolling pin to evenly roll your dough to approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inch thick. If you don’t have a biscuit cutter you can easily substitute it for a glass.
Once the biscuits are cut I like to lightly spray a cookie sheet with Pam cooking spray before placing the biscuits on the cookie sheet. Bake until golden brown.
In about 14-19 minutes (depending on your oven) you’ll have some beautiful biscuits to serve to your family. I take a ramekin with about 1-2 tablespoons of butter and melt it, so I can brush the tops of the biscuits.
