My husband and I had a version of this gooey comfort food from a fast food pizza chain, and it wasn’t that great. The idea was good but it needed some tweaks so I decided to make my own version. I’m still in the experiment phase with this because it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to. It was still good, but i’m searching for greatness. Before I get carried away here’s what you’ll need…
Bread dough or your favorite biscuit dough
Double smoked cheddar cheese
First chop the bread into bite sized pieces.
Then cook the bacon and let it cool so you can crumble it. While the bacon cools, bake the bread according to the type you’ve chosen. I had to bake my bread for about 20 minutes because it was fresh dough, but store bought should be a lot faster. Be sure to reserve some of the oil from the bacon to pour over the bread.
Next chop or shred the cheese. I like to season my cheese at this point with the smoked paprika, garlic and other seasonings.
When the bread is done baking, combine it with the cheese and bacon.
Broil until golden brown and cheese is melted. Start with 1 minute then check constantly or you might burn it like I did 🙁 . Any who remove from oven, let cool and enjoy!
